Richard also represents lenders and borrowers in national workouts and restructurings.
With over 35 years of experience, Richard has worked on sophisticated domestic and international real estate transactions, including office buildings, shopping centers, condominiums, and restaurants worldwide. He has advised prominent landlords and tenants in complex retail and office leases, including ground and space leasing, across the U.S.
Richard has been involved in notable projects such as the Bank Santander building at 45 East 53rd Street, 666 Fifth Avenue, and the Harborside Financial Center. He has also worked on projects in Boston and Frankfurt, Germany. His clients include institutions like Blackrock and KPMG and companies like Chadbourne & Parke, Mylan Laboratories, and PwC for their New York headquarters leasing.
He has advised foreign institutional investors, including Oxford Properties Group and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, on their U.S. real estate investments and joint ventures. Additionally, Richard has represented Irish and Israeli investors in Manhattan condominiums and mixed-use developments.
Richard Kalikow also advises family-owned real estate businesses on generational transfers, restructurings, and succession planning, using his extensive experience negotiating complex transactions. Before joining Herrick, he was a partner at Diamond McCarthy LLP and spent 25 years as a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
