Luise A. Barrack is a Member at Rosenberg & Estis, P.C., where she leads the Litigation Department. She served as the Managing Member from 2010 to 2020, during which time the firm more than doubled in size and was awarded the “Litigation Department of the Year: Real Estate” by the New York Law Journal in 2018. With extensive experience in all New York courts, Barrack specializes in real estate litigation, representing developers, lenders, commercial property owners, hoteliers, not-for-profit organizations, and educational institutions. She is recognized as a leading expert in Loft Law, focusing on legalization, valuation of loft fixtures, and compliance costs.
In addition, she handles construction litigation, property developments, demolitions, and disputes regarding succession rights, non-primary residency, and owner occupancy. Barrack is also adept in cooperative, condominium, and shareholder disputes, as well as rent regulatory and administrative law, including the procurement of certificates of no harassment (CONH).
Her notable cases include successfully challenging a claim requiring an environmental study before a developer could proceed with an administrative request for demolition, negotiating a multimillion-dollar property exchange with Columbia University, aiding New York Law School in securing a site for its new campus, and defeating a claim regarding an option to purchase a stake in a prominent High Line property with a high-profile nightclub.
