Lisa Nathanson Busch is a partner at Simmons Hanly Conroy, focusing on mesothelioma and mass tort litigation. Based in the firm’s New York office, Lisa brings nearly 30 years of experience, helping over 30,000 clients secure compensation through asbestos trust fund claims since 2000.
Lisa is dedicated to holding asbestos companies accountable, especially those that expose people to toxic asbestos dust without proper protection. She helps victims access funds from bankrupt companies that caused their illness, allowing clients to cover medical costs and find comfort after their diagnosis.
She serves on over 20 trust advisory committees (TACs) and chairs multiple trusts, ensuring fair administration and equitable treatment of claimants. Lisa’s efforts have shaped the current asbestos trust system, improving access to compensation for many. She is also a founding chair of the AAJ Tort Bankruptcy Group.
With a hands-on approach, Lisa regularly checks in with clients to see how they’re doing. Her professional journey includes key leadership roles at Weitz & Luxenberg, where she managed the asbestos bankruptcy, new case, and lien resolution departments.
Lisa Nathanson Busch earned her B.A. from Duke University in 1990 and her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1993. In addition to her legal work, she supports various causes, including being a pro-bono evaluator for asbestos bankruptcy trusts and co-founding the Holes for Hope charity, which benefits those affected by autism.
