Gary DiMuzio is a partner in the Asbestos Department at Simmons Hanly Conroy, bringing over 25 years of experience in representing victims of mesothelioma and other workplace hazards. Since joining the firm in 2019, he has handled cases involving various environmental and occupational diseases, such as mesothelioma, lung cancer, and silicosis. Gary is based in the New York office and has been litigating mesothelioma cases since 1998.
As a trial attorney, Gary manages the entire litigation process, from client intake to trial verdict, ensuring justice for his clients across the country. He collaborates closely with the litigation team to understand clients’ stories, preparing them for court and working to achieve the best possible outcomes for them and their families.
Gary has successfully secured numerous multi-million dollar verdicts, representing individuals exposed to asbestos in various industries. Notably, in 2020, he won a $10.3 million verdict for a longshoreman exposed to asbestos in the 1960s, and in 2016, he secured nearly $5 million for the widow of a mesothelioma victim.
Gary has extensive experience in handling cases involving hazardous chemicals, including hydrofluoric acid, crude oil wastes, and vinyl chloride. He has prosecuted large environmental Superfund and explosion cases and has drafted successful legal briefs in state supreme courts. Additionally, he has coordinated environmental epidemiology studies and played a key role in major legal decisions regarding asbestos exposure and toxic torts.
Driven by his passion for helping those harmed by pollution, Gary pursued studies in environmental and occupational contamination law. He also completed public health studies, focusing on toxicology and risk assessment. Before joining Simmons Hanly Conroy, Gary worked at a Virginia firm and managed his own practice in Texas.
Gary holds a B.M. in Classical Guitar Performance from Texas A&M University and earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1992.
