Ed Kornreich, the former long-standing chair of Proskauer’s Health Care Department, is a recognized authority in legal, regulatory, and business matters concerning health care services.
Ed specializes in health care transactions, regulatory compliance, and governance issues for various providers, including both for-profit and non-profit entities, as well as vendors, GPOs, distributors, and entrepreneurs. He expertly balances regulatory business goals with a comprehensive understanding of the health care landscape, particularly excelling in managing the complexities of integrated health care systems.
Ed’s career began at the Legal Aid Society before moving into private practice, where he represented a major public hospital corporation in significant reimbursement disputes with state and federal governments. He also provided counsel to hospitals and nursing homes in New York on reimbursement and operational issues. Following this, Ed served as General Counsel for St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, one of the largest teaching hospitals in New York, before joining Proskauer as a Partner in 1990.
Ed is a frequent author and speaker on topics such as Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, health care integration, not-for-profit law, corporate governance, and the application of federal and state anti-kickback and “Stark” laws to health care transactions.
