Bob Allen is a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, specializing in Litigation and Government, Regulatory & Internal Investigations. His practice centers on defending corporations and individuals in criminal and regulatory probes, as well as handling complex litigation.
Before returning to Kirkland, Bob served at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. As part of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Taskforce, he handled high-profile cases related to insider trading, market manipulation, bribery, and accounting fraud, collaborating with regulatory agencies like the SEC and CFTC. He tried seven cases to verdict, securing convictions in all, and successfully argued appeals before the Second Circuit.
Bob has been recognized by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 U.S. for his expertise in government investigations and white-collar defense. He was also listed in Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List” and named a “Rising Star” by Law360 for his work with financial institutions.
Bob previously clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Michael Boudin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as President of the Harvard Law Review and received the Sears Prize.
