Pamela Jeffrey, who earned her J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School and her B.A. from Barnard College, began her career in labor as a rank-and-file activist before becoming a staff organizer for District 65 of the UAW. She played a key role in the organizing drive at Columbia University, which led to a groundbreaking contract for university support staff. Currently, Pamela serves as General Counsel for 1199SEIU, representing over 400,000 healthcare workers. Throughout her legal career, she has been dedicated to advocating for unions and workers, focusing on their rights in areas such as collective bargaining, arbitrations, internal union governance, litigation, and representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board concerning unfair labor practices.
In addition to her extensive labor work, Pamela has represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination cases, including the class-action lawsuit Latino Officers Ass’n, et al. v. City of New York, et al., which addressed discrimination within the NYPD’s internal disciplinary system.
Pamela is a frequent speaker and writer on various labor and employment issues. She is a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law, actively participates in the ABA’s Committee on Practice and Procedure Under the NLRA, and is a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
